WHAT ARE INBOUND LINKS?
Inbound links are created when another website mentions your site in some way and creates a clickable link that points back to a page on your site.
This situation can be created in two different ways:
1. Your content is so extraordinarily good that people share the hell out of it organically
2. You create situations that bring awareness to your brand, then exchange value to a website for a link
Which scenario do you think most brands will find themselves in? Obviously it’s #2.
Inbound links are so coveted by websites in every industry because they’re still the foremost indication to both users and search engines of quality content.
If a QUALITY site is willing to link to another website, they are essentially vouching for that site and saying “This content is worthwhile and will answer your questions or give you the experience you’re after.”
Quality is the keyword here. It used to be that links were links and any link would do. But today, with the advancement of modern search engines, links pointing to a site are scrutinized by search algorithms and a website can be penalized if it has a ton of spammy, low-quality links pointing to it.
Links coming from high domain authority website are deemed as “quality” and those are the ones you want.
That’s what makes link building so complex these days. You’ve got to be creative if you want to create a high quality link profile.
